Red Hat ha deciso di deprecare KDE su Red Hat Enterprise Linux. L’annuncio è arrivato in sordina nelle note di rilascio di RHEL 7.6 che è stata rilasciata qualche giorno fa:
KDE has been deprecated
KDE Plasma Workspaces (KDE), which has been provided as an alternative to the default GNOME desktop environment has been deprecated. A future major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux will no longer support using KDE instead of the default GNOME desktop environment.
In pratica, a partire da una prossima prossima major release di RHEL, KDE non sarà più supportato. Se siete utenti RHEL e usate KDE non dovete però subito disperarvi in quanto KDE continuerà ad essere supportato per tutta la vita di Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 ovvero fino al 2024.
