Rilasciato Firefox 43 con la nuova versione a 64-bit per Microsoft Windows
Mozilla ha annunciato il rilascio di Firefox 43.0, la nuova versione del suo celebre browser web. Fra le novità più importanti di questa release abbiamo l’arrivo della tanto attesa versione a 64-bit per Microsoft Windows, miglioramenti nelle API per la riproduzione dei video m4v, la possibilità di attivare i suggerimenti per la ricerca tramite la Awesome Bar ed infine un nuovo filtro anti tracking per la modalità di navigazione privata.
Grande assente a sorpresa di questa release è il supporto nativo alle GTK3 che, doveva esser implementato in Firefox 43.0, ma alla fine si è deciso di rimandare il tutto per le future release.
Se siete utenti Windows e Mac OSX per aggiornare vi basterà verificare la presenza di aggiornamenti tramite l’apposita funzionalità integrata. In alternativa potrete scaricare Firefox 43.0 all’indirizzo https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ all’interno del quale troverete altresì la nuova versione a 64-bit per Windows. Nel caso vogliate provare la versione a 64-bit per Windows Mozilla ci ricorda che alcuni plugin potrebbero non funzionare correttamente.
Gli utenti Linux dovranno semplicemente installare l’update non appena disponibile attraverso i repository della propria distro.
Se siete su Ubuntu e derivate e non volete aspettare l’arrivo della nuova versione potete anticipare i tempi ricorrendo al PPA for Ubuntu Mozilla Security Team. Vi basterà aggiungerlo dando da terminale
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa
e aggiornare
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
